Troopergate Unravels

Just out from the Times:

Ms. Palin has denied that anyone told Mr. Monegan to dismiss Mr. Wooten, or that the commissioner's ouster had anything to do with the trooper. But an examination of the case, based on interviews with Mr. Monegan and several top aides, indicates that, to a far greater degree than was previously known, the governor, her husband and her administration pressed the commissioner and his staff to get Mr. Wooten off the force, though without directly ordering it.

In all, the commissioner and his aides were contacted about Mr. Wooten three dozen times over 19 months by the governor, her husband and seven administration officials, interviews and documents show.

"To all of us, it was a campaign to get rid of him as a trooper and, at the very least, to smear the guy and give him a desk job somewhere," said Kim Peterson, Mr. Monegan's special assistant, who like several other aides spoke publicly about the matter for the first time.

Go read the whole thing. And make sure to catch how Palin even prevented Wooten from dressing up as the mascot "Safety Bear" for the state fair.

The AK Legislature's report drops tomorrow.

I heard that Palin's self-selected committee just issued their report tonight.  Surprise surprise, Palin cleared herself.  You can't make shit like this up.

The nation has actually been made dumber by McCain-Palin.

AP, Anchorage Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- On the eve of a report on a legislative panel's abuse-of-power investigation into Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, campaign officials released their own report clearing her of any wrongdoing.

You really just can't make shit like this up...

Can I do that? (2.00 / 1)

"Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I would like to present this report I wrote that clearly shows that I am not guilty of the crimes I have been charged with."

Then I can skip out of the courtroom, lift myself up by my own petards and fly off into the sunset like Tinkerbell!

Re: Troopergate Unravels (2.00 / 1)

The coverup report is going to hurt them more than the actual findings...

Honestly, "Never mind that report... I did one myself!"

Who the hell is going to buy into that?

Re: Troopergate Unravels (none / 0)

take is a bit different.I say that the McPAlin candidacy  hasn't made the nation dumber,I think it throws a huge spotlight on just how dumb the nation already is.And  evil.
When I see people chanting "die you traitor"  and other similarthings right at Obama ink that their candidacy has unleashed, something that we have never seen, even with Bush, and something that hasn't been seen since the rise of   facism  in Germany.
These are things that charachterized facism during at it's inception and during it's rise.Anything sound  remotely familiar?

Strongly nationalistic
Strongly/Violently anti-Communist
Anti-Liberal-democratic
Opposed to international org.
Elitist and Authoritarian (`Obedience not discussion' -- Mussolini)
Close identity btw the party and the state

Glorified war (promoted Social Darwinism)
Profoundly racist

Promoted the myth of the race (use victories of the past)
Placed emphasis on the myth of the predestined leader

and  much more... but this list will do for starters.

Re: Troopergate Unravels (none / 0)

Ok... So on one Hand the Alaskan Legislature is dominantly Republican and as a party they'd have reason to protect her and McCain especially if they want to pimp her in 2012 or 2016.

On the other hand, much as the case in Illinois, even though one party controls it all, the elements of that Party HATE each other.  As in the case of Mike Madigan (Douche) and Rod Blagoevich (Douche), I believe the power in the alaskan legislature HATES her and this could be political payback...

I guess we shall see which way they go... based on this it sounds like guilty.

Re: Troopergate Unravels (none / 0)

Apparently one of her bigger political enemies in Alaska is a Republican state senator.  She is not loved by the Alaska State Republican party.

It only gets better and better! (2.00 / 2)

Mudflats has been flogging this effectively for a long time and is enjoying itself, I'm having my fun with it, DKOS is rolling in it, the Times Online is ringing the bell, and I trusted you and the good MyDD crowd to have lots of interesting things to say now that the report will be the Christmas in October for us all.

And it hasn't even started, yet.

Just because I like rubbing salt into wounds, for your viewing pleasure:

Re: Troopergate Unravels (none / 0)

but, I mean, wasn't Wooten a terrorist or something? How could Sarah allow him to be the 'Safety Bear.' Wouldn't that be posing a terrible risk to the children? Besides being incredibly unqualified to hold any public office, besides being ignorant of the world, besides being uninterested in the world, how fu^king petty.

Re: Troopergate Unravels (2.00 / 1)

It's quite a thought to think that Ed Rollins is calling the McCain campaign too rough.

". . . and inferred that McCain will become the GOP's McGovern."

The corollary is that Obama is our Reagan (electorally speaking).

Seriously though (2.00 / 1)

Now I can understand why they all started going apeshit in Right wing world with Ayers and Acorn and New Party...

They were trying to throw so much flak in the air, this might have been minimised.

Palin knew this was coming...

Steve Schmidt knew this was coming...

CINDY FRICKING MCCAIN knew this was coming...

I'm telling you, the entire team is heading for the bunker, I doubt they will talk to anyone from the press till Nov 5th...

Re: Seriously though (none / 0)

That being said, the ACORN situation is pretty fucked up. The last thing we needed was a bunch of amateurs trying to play the voter fraud game on our behalf; especially this year when we have such a legitimate advantage.

Hey guys? You know we won right? You can stop the doooooomsaying now.

Re: Troopergate Unravels (none / 0)

I am astonished that Ed Rollins, of all people, declared "it's over" for McCain, and is even predicting a filibuster proof Senate. I am so looking forward to the release of that report on Palin later today, indicating she abused her power and lied about it to the American people. On top of the deepening financial crisis, now spreading world wide, McToast is an apropos new surname for him.

Re: Troopergate Unravels (none / 0)

I am surprised no one is talking about her liks to Alaska Independance party. Her husband was a member of this party until 2002. The party's main aim is to become a separate nation or commonwealth state. The Alaskan Independence Party quotes Vogler as stating "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions. These guys are lecturing about Obama's integrity and commitment. SHAME!!!!
